Grooming underway at Log Cabin!
January 22, 2026
DYEA/SKAGWAY TRAILS
The warming trend over the past couple of weeks has made the trails crunchy, but you can still get out on the West Creek trails and out to the campground in Dyea.
Trail crew work began last week and they were able to pack, groom and do an initials track-set on the 2K loops, the Father Mouchet, Caposey Cutoff-Power Line, and the Saldi. About 10K total. Our goal for the next six weeks will be to get the full Buckwheat course packed and groomed for the race on March 7 (a week early this year due to AWG in Whitehorse mid-month). Watch for more frequent trail reports!
Reminder to all: the Log Cabin Ski Trails are designated for Cross-Country Skiing Only for the safety of everyone – no snow machines on trails please! The Log Cabin Ski Trails are part of Recreation Sites & Trails BC and are maintained by our Log Cabin Ski Society volunteers from Skagway and the Yukon. The parking lot is on Parks Canada land, and outhouses in the winter are maintained by LCSS.
