BISC 2024 at Log Cabin on Saturday, March 9
2024 THEME: “A BUCKWHEAT ODYSSEY: Monsters, Myths & Mischief“

BISC 2024 RACE SCHEDULE

ALL TIMES Alaska Standard Time – 2 hours earlier than Yukon time
FRIDAY, MARCH 8
Online Registration closes at 3 pm Alaska Time (5 pm Yukon). There will be no late registration.
Volunteers may gather at Log Cabin for campout the night before, or come up early on Saturday after breakfast. Sign up on our Volunteer Local page prior to Race Week. Volunteer shirts may be picked up at Log Cabin on race day and at the awards in Skagway Saturday night.
SATURDAY, MARCH 9
• 6 AM to 9 AM – Breakfast for volunteers and racers at Presbyterian Church Rec. Hall. (5th and Main behind church)
SMART SHUTTLE DEPARTURE TIMES
Leave Skagway Presbyterian Church for Log Cabin: 7:30 AM and (if needed) 8:45 AM.
Leave Log Cabin parking lot for Skagway: 12 Noon and 2:00 PM
LOG CABIN PARKING LOT – Please car pool if you can. Parking will be limited to the main Log Cabin lot. No parking on the highway. Any overflow parking will have to be at the highway turnout up the hill south of Log Cabin. There will be a shuttle between parking areas on demand. Don’t forget your passport if you are crossing the border and allow plenty of time to arrive.
SHIRT & TIMING CHIP PICKUP AT LOG CABIN
• 8 AM to 11 AM at Log Cabin – Check in at official race tables between marked Race RVs in parking lot near start line. Racer and volunteer shirts may be picked up there.
STARTING
• 8 AM to 11 AM Alaska Time (10 am – 1 pm Yukon time)
STARTING WINDOW: Start any time in this 3-hour window, OR you may start during the Optional Mass Start times for each race (noted below).
Regardless of starting choice, all skiers must do the following start procedure:
• Attach your timing chip to one of your legs, ideally just above your ankle on top of your base layer.
• Proceed to the Start area and follow instructions from the Start volunteer. WARNING: Your race timing will start the first time you cross the start line wearing your timing chip.
• Ski your chosen course (32km, 16km, 10km, or Youth 5km)
OPTIONAL MASS START TIMES: (for people looking for a higher level of competition, excitement and/or camaraderie)
9:30 AM – 32K
9:45 AM – 16K
10 AM – 10K
10:15 AM – 5K kids
NOTE: If you choose to start at the Mass Start times, plan to arrive at Log Cabin at least 30 minutes before your start to ensure you have enough time to pick up your timing chip. Then, gather in the start area to wait for the “starting howl” at the scheduled Mass Start time.
FINISHING – Cross the Finish Line and turn in your timing chip by 2 PM AK Time ($100 will be charged for lost or damaged chips).

AFTER THE RACE IN SKAGWAY (don’t forget your passport)
AWARDS CEREMONY – EAGLES HALL THEATRE (6th & Broadway):
Racers and volunteers only please in the food line, Awards ceremony in theatre open to public.
• Doors open at 5:30 PM. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided in the ‘gambling’ room adjacent to entryway on south side of building (use double doors). LCSS will have the new Race Map Bulas for sale, along with 30th Anniversary DVDs, and memberships (eligible for ski drawing). Volunteers may also pick up their race shirts there.
• Awards presentations begin a 6:00 PM in the theatre. Medals for top 3 male/female in each race, Des Duncan & John Briner special awards, ski drawing for members, announcement of Best Costume Award, and the ever-popular Ms. Buckwheat presentation!
Skagway Brewing Co. (open 3 pm: reservations recommended) and Skagway Station will be open downtown for Dinner
LIVE MUSIC? – Sorry, no live band playing in town this year.
